This 5-month program is designed to guide swimmers in dry land cross training to increase their performance. Swimming is a total body exercise that utilizes all muscle groups in a variety of capacities. In order to increase performance in the pool, training on land is require to strengthen muscles and improve overall muscular ability.
Areas of focus will be core strength and mobility, balance, flexibility, bilateral training and posture. These areas tend to be underdeveloped when compared to strength and endurance in swim athletes.
Assessments will be completed before, during and after training to measure athletic improvement. Assessments will include, postural kinetic chain assessment, core endurance and strength, upper body strength and endurance, and overall flexibility.
