Maternity Fitness & Wellness: A Complete Pregnancy Program

 

Program Description
The program is designed to enhance the overall health status of the mother and developing baby while reducing the likelihood of negative health conditions during and after pregnancy. This program is also designed to educate participants on healthy lifestyle habits that they can practice the rest of their lives. Women who are planning to become pregnant, are in their first trimester, or women who have recently given birth are welcome to enroll in the program. Spouses are also encouraged and welcome to participate. A variety of program options are available to accommodate each women during her pregnant journey. Evidence-based practices (in accordance with the ACOG and ACSM) are utilized to safely and effectively guide you on your journey to establish optimum health benefits for you and your baby.

Physician/Midwife Involvement
Participation in this program does require medical clearance from your physician or midwife. For a list of contraindications, please contact HealthBalance or your health care provider. Communication between HealthBalance and your health provider will occur prior to each patient appointment or when deemed necessary by the HealthBalance Staff.

Prenatal Yoga
Yoga is a perfect tool for mothers-to-be. It’s designed to increase sensitivity to internal changes. Prenatal yoga can also increase circulation, lymph flow, digestion and elimination, muscular strength, stamina, flexibility, overall sense of well-being, and quality of being. These benefits are especially useful tools as women prepare for labor. Prenatal yoga will equip women with techniques designed to slow and focus the mind, slow biorhythms, and focus both physical and mental energies effectively during labor.

Prenatal Massage
Prenatal massage gives special attention to the mother and growing baby. Massage can aid in the mother’s ability to cope with the physical changes taking place in her body and allow for a more positive pregnancy and labor experience.

Package Options
Prenatal/1st Trimester Option

  • 3 month gym pass
  • 8 supervised exercise appointments during the 90 day period plus an individualized exercise program
  • Nutritional information provided every 4 weeks
  • Prenatal yoga classes for duration of 3 month pass
  • Water exercise classes for duration of 3 month pass
  • Discounted penatal massage rate for pregnant women

Postpartum Option

  • Enrollment must be within 6 months post-childbirth
  • 3 month gym pass
  • 8 supervised exercise appointments during the 90 day period plus an individualized exercise program
  • Nutritional information provided every 4 weeks
  • Designed to reduce excess weight gained during pregnancy and make daily physical activity and healthy eating lifestyle habits

Spouses
Spouses are welcome and encouraged to participate with their pregnant spouses for either package option (gym pass only)
